Dr Deborah Kirkham

DIT representative

Dr Deborah Kirkham is a specialty trainee in genitourinary and HIV medicine in the north west of England. She graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009 having spent 6 months of her degree in France. In 2015/16, Deborah spent a year out of programme as a National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow at NHS England, and the BMJ.

She started an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Medical Education in 2012 and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, and Masters of Research in Public Health. In 2014 she was recruited to the role of Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission and has participated in a number of hospital inspections.

Deborah's broader interests are around the social determinants of health, and she sits on the education committee of the Medical Council on Alcohol. She sees working in sexual health as a fantastic opportunity to provide holistic person-centred care. Deborah is excited to have the opportunity to act as a representative to doctors in training across the UK and can be contacted on deborah.kirkham@nhs.net.
