About the Standards for Management of STIs: Commissioner Contact Programme
Since the launch of the 'Standards for the Management of STIs', much of the communications activity has focussed on raising awareness among sexual health and health commissioners and care professionals through articles in their trade press and a direct e-mail bulletin. To build on the momentum of this activity and to help drive implementation of the standards at a local level, the BASHH Media Group have organised a means of facilitating communication between clinical directors and commissioners at a local level through a 'Commissioner contact programme'.
In order to support the programme and to help BASHH members arrange meetings with sexual health commissioners, we have put together some supporting materials. Firstly, we have produced a briefing document which outlines the purpose of the programme, why it is important, and background information on the communications activity that has taken place to date. It also includes a template email that can be used to arrange a meeting with local commissioners.A copy of the briefing document can be found below. In addition, we have also put together a document which summarises the sexual health content of the operatingplans of PCTs. The Operating Plans Analysis pulls together examples of best practice from the operating plans, and set against the context of theStandards, makes a number of recommendations for conversations that could be had in meetings with commissioners. The Analysis can be viewed below along with links to the operating plans of PCTs. Lastly, as part of the evaluation process and to help share 'best practice'
