SHIV is an initiative launched by the British Association of Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) to aid medical students improve their skills in the field of genito-urinary medicine. Exposure to sexual health and HIV medicine is extremely varied between different medical schools with some only having a few days experience within the field. As a result medical student's skills around sexual history taking and genito-urinary examination are equally variable. SHIV is a toolkit provided to both students and tutors aimed to provide a standardised approach to learning with the GU medicine field, irrespective of a medical student's exposure.

Within this website you will find curriculums, activities, worksheets and assessments for students who are on their sexual health and HIV medicine placements. These have been split up and organised to fit one day placements, two day placements, five day placements and extended placements (including SSM's). There are also worksheets, assessments and exam style questions for you to complete too.

We hope you find this website useful and helps you improve your learning and understanding in the field of sexual health and HIV medicine.
