BASHH Member Survey Results Summary

Dear BASHH Members,

The results of the recent BASHH Member Survey have now been analysed and we were keen to share an initial summary of these with you.

The survey, which was carried out between August-September ’18, received 291 responses in total. It was developed in support of the following aims:

• To assess how sexual health services are managing the pressures they are facing, particularly from growing demand for access and widespread reductions in available funding (as a result of Government cuts to the local authority public health budget)
• To gather insights into the effect that pressures on services are having on those accessing them
• To generate evidence that can support BASHH’s ongoing efforts (and those of supporting organisations) to engage with decision-makers around the future delivery of sexual health services and the importance of ensuring that they are adequately funded.

In the first instance, the survey results are being used to support BASHH's submission to the Health and Social Care Select Committee inquiry into sexual health, which provides an important opportunity to highlight the need for new funding and support for services and apply political pressure on the Government.

These initial survey findings are therefore based on the responses that were received from members based in England (264 out of 291 responses).

All survey results, however, will be used to inform BASHH's communications, lobbying and member engagement activities over the coming months, across the UK.

We are hugely grateful for everyone's input into the survey and we look forward to sharing further details and next steps shortly.
