Medical leaders urge the next Scottish Government to invest in the sexual and reproductive health of the population

BASHH, FSRH & RCOG publish joint SRH manifesto ahead of 2021 Scottish Elections

Ahead of the forthcoming Scottish Parliament election in May, the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) is delighted to announce its support for a joint sexual and reproductive health manifesto with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), urging the next Scottish Government to invest in the sexual health of the population.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on sexual health in Scotland, with many services being forced to shut or significantly reduce their capacity, leading to an inconsistent and much restricted provision of services. The pandemic has occurred against a backdrop of reduced investment, changing social and sexual behaviours and demand for services – taken together, it means that promoting and prioritising positive sexual health has never been more important for the next government in Scotland.

This manifesto sets out a series of recommendations for the new Scottish Government to support the rebuilding of services and to continue to embed innovation across the sector - with the overall aim to improve the sexual and reproductive health for all of Scotland.
