BASHH welcomes King’s Fund report ‘The future of HIV services in England’

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) welcomes the new report by The King’s Fund.

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) welcomes the new report by The King’s Fund, ‘The Future of HIV services in England: Shaping the response to changing needs’ published on 25 April 2017.

The report’s findings illustrate the continuing challenge of stigma for those living with HIV and the need to have strong system leadership in place, locally and nationally, to drive forward progress in HIV and sexual health.

Commenting on the report, Dr Elizabeth Carlin, President of BASHH said:

The number of people living with HIV in England is at an all-time high and the importance of the quality of life, as well as clinical and virological outcomes, is well recognised.

Robust national and local leadership with clear lines of accountability, zero tolerance for HIV-related stigma and partnership working with those living with HIV is essential to develop a new era of HIV care, prevention and support where fragmentation is halted and innovation flourishes.
